I count myself extremely lucky to befriend a wonderful human being like Joyce Turner, whose zest for teaching and capacity to live life to the full was inspiring. Joyce gave her time so willingly to students, work colleagues and friends and never expected anything in return. Joyce's loves included her family, crotchet and students at both Blacktown TAFE and mount Druitt TAFE campuses. As a teacher Joyce was supreme. She was conscientious. Despite her senior age, she always kept herself updated with technological demands. I will never forget her smiley face and caring gentle nature. She was always very helpful and kind to me during the 5 years we worked together at Mount Druitt TAFE. As a work colleague, Joyce was the best. I will always remember her.
I worked with Joyce at Mt Druitt for a number of years. She was always encouraging and willing to share - it could be on classroom strategies, policies, or even advice on my new baby. Armed with wool and needles Joyce encouraged us to participate in the Wrap with Love knitting challenge to help others. I did my first square - rusty and afew holes. Nevertheless...enocuragement and some touch up lessons from Joyce helped get me on track and even learn a few new things. That year I made 2 squares in the time frame...this year I made almost 20. To Joyce's family.. You are in my thoughts and prayers. xo Sheryll
A very special lady and the deepest sympathy to her family. The following message was part of the last email I received from Joyce and I will treasure it always. Quote: "Today may there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us."
I worked with Joyce for many years at Mt Druitt TAFE. Joyce was a wonderful teacher, but above all she was a beautiful person, kind to everyone that needed a caring word or a little encouragement.
Joyce will be sadly missed by her family, friends, colleagues and also by her students. She was a great teacher and one who really did make a difference to so many lives. My deepest sympathy to her family, friends and all those who loved her dearly. Lynne Hastings
