I will miss you so much marty. You were one of the best uncle's anyone could ever ask for. You have no idea how much you are going to be missed in this big family of ours and how much your brother(my dad) is going to really miss you and your talks. A love you Uncle Marty! Love Your Niece, Caley
I was startled to come across the obituary for Marty Lund in McLean's magazine today, then deeply moved by the story of love and joy for life it told. I couldn't hope to share my name with a more worthy man. My sympathies to his family and friends.
News of Marty's death has travelled here to the east coast adventure racers and we are very sorry to hear. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. God Bless all of you. Denise
Dear family and friends of Marty- while we did not know Marty personally, our rag tag team of novice adventure racers #14 Team NOV, came upon your team near the rappel at the Full Moon in June, June 19,2008. I remember how fit and ready to go you all were and how we were floundering. Upon hearing news of Marty's passing, my teammates and I are truly saddened and shocked. Our hearts and blessings go out to Marty's family. You are all in our prayers at this sad time. Regards, Team NOV, #14.
Marty, we will all miss you terribly. You lead us through races with such confidence and truly made it so much fun. It is something that I will miss so much.
What a privilidge it has been to know Marty. He introduced me to adventure racing and then later, when I had to lead a team during 2005, Race the Rockies, I can remember during the pre race briefing, in utter distress he quickly gave me a quick lesson in basic navigation. We finished the race and did not get lost! It was great to know him, to race with him and to learn from him. Reyno
Marty, my friend, you will be missed by everyone who knew you. You were strong in character and lead by example. Your patience and understanding were second to none. Vivian, you and your family will be in our thoughts always. We are so very sorry.
Marty has been racing for many years and as a race organizer it was alway a real pleasure to see him out there. He competed for the sheer joy of it and he always took everything in stride. At the end of a race, no matter how it went, he was always ready to share a laugh and shake your hand. I looked forward to seeing him every year but, alas, no more. It is so very sad to see him go. You would be hard pressed to find a kinder, friendlier, more spirited man. You will be sorely missed, Marty. Rest in peace. My thoughts go out to his family and friends in this hour of sadness.
A salute to one of our best in SK Scouting. You will be missed, Scouter Marty ... from Scouter Ben, Regina, SK.
I remember talking to Marty during the meeting. I had stuff for him to bring back for his teammates. Knowing that I could deliver those items to him and the rest was taken care of without a problem was just the sort of guy he was. The way he jumped to the call for a ride to get other racers to the start. How he selflessly offered his vehicle to a volunteer to bring back for him. Outstanding! I miss you , Marty.
