I would always say hello to Peter and Rora when I saw them and give them a lift when travelling in the same direction. For those of us fortunate enough to take the time to get to know them we are richer for the experience. For those newcomers to the mountains who looked at them with distain you are foolish narrow minded city people with no knowledge of what the mountains is all about. (Peter and Rora were the mountains). I remember speaking to Peter and he expressed concerned that Rora would not live very long and asked me if I knew anyone that might have a staffy that Rora could teach I don't think it would have crossed anyones mind's that Peter would rest first. How the mountains will miss you both.....Travel that highway in the sky and those you left behind will meet you there someday... Proud to have known such a gentle soul and gentleman.

Gentle soul and kind heart. My children also were surprised when I picked up Peter and Aurora. We did on many occasions and often sat and talked with him at the shops. Peter last spoke to me at Blaxland shops about Aurora. "She was being left behind at home these days as she was getting a little old and tired", he said. He had with him a new lady...looked so much like Aurora. Peter was telling me that Aurora was being a 'good mum' and she was looking after her. I've been in the mountains now for nearing 26 years...he has always been a part of Mountain Life. A true Icon. Gosh, I'm going to miss him. Travel well Peter. Lorraine C

Picked up Pete and his dog from Blaxland over the years. He was always very polite and appreciative. Surprised my kids but I trusted him. Sorry I didn't pick him up a few months ago. Miss you Pete. You really were a mountains identity. A loveable connoisseur of dated supermarket products. I will not forget you. Peter W

I first knew Peter in the early 1980s when he was an active member of DisMove, Blue Mountains Disabled Movement. He was on my Management Committee and we did the first BM Access Guide together. Over the years we'd catch up on the highway when he was out visiting his many friends and keeping an eye on all things local. Peter was always such a gentleman in the biggest sense of the word. I salute his memory - the Mountains is richer for all he gave in reminding us to look out for each other, to appreciate the simple thigs and above all, love your dog!

Ive known Peter since i moved to the mountains about 8 years ago. My mother used to pick him and Aurora up a lot and she told me about the boundless knowledge he had about the history of the mountains, bushwalks and nature. I picked him up this year and met the new addition to his family - another puppy. I hope beyond anything that his friends will have a good home since his passing. rip.

I did not know him personally but had the great pleasure over the years of smiling at his antics on the side of the road with his dog Aurora waiting patiently by his side. He was definitely an icon of the mountains and will be sadly missed and remembered by many people. R.I.P. Peter

Peter was a beloved friend of my entire family. He was a friend of ours for as long as I can remember. He was always welcome in our home and was present for many family occasions such as birthdays, christmas etc. He was always happy to lend a hand and there was no task too great for Peter (helping us move house many times). Peter was a happy and trustworthy person who was not concerned for material luxuries. I hope that Peter's memory and legacy lives on in the Blue Mountains. His memory will live on with me... My memory is of a kind honest and trustworthy friend. I spent many hours with Peter in our home and cannot remember a single negative thing that he ever said. He was always happy...... Peter astounded me on many occasions with his remarkable knowledge of all things beautiful - Art - Natural and the acceptance of Life. I will always miss his "Hi Ho" greeting and note that the Blue Moutains has lost one of its greatest ambassadors. I am proud to say Peter Carroll was a frind of mine... Lynda Kimber
