Bob was such a wonderful person who always had the time to take you through the mumbo jumbo of the tech "stuff". You knew things were in good hands. More importantly he was just an all round good bloke. We will miss you up this way Bob. Justine xx

Well what I remember is if you needed something Bob could always find it somewhere for you, does anybody have the treasure map to all his hiding places?

Bob, known to many as ABC Bob and myself became good friends over our working career, a person you could always have a nag or an ale with, most often about work as it was always on his mind, over the years during his time off work his mobile phone was always on and even as he battled in the recent months on extended sick leave he was still calling in to his office, as he called it, up the road at the B.B. One of my good memories of Bob was when he and many work colleagues attended my 40th birthday back in 2000 and an old friend (Stella) ) who I had previously met on a couple of occasions through him showed up at the party with a friend of mine. Well it was so funny when Bob noticed her there, mind you I was equally shocked, talk about 6 degrees of seperation. Everybody had a great night. Bob, you will be sorely missed, thanks for the memories, cheers. Bob Ritter (a.k.a. MR Ritter)

Bob, You always lent a hand and helpful advice where ever it was needed, in OB's when short staffed, in MCR when every phone was ringing, you always helped out. Have a well earned rest Bob. Banjo

The cranky bugger with a heart of gold. It was my great privilege to share an ale or two in his company. Sadly, last drinks was called for the man way too soon. He will be sorely missed and it'll take a drink or two to get used to not having a beer with Bob. Rest in Peace mate.

My introduction to serious ABC work. Bob had a way of making work so much more enjoyable...... with beer. A tradition I will keep up.

Who doesn't know of Bob? He'll be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Way back in the good old analog tv day's at Gore Hill he almost single-handedly built Master Control (with no budget), and he allowed the rest of us to use it! He leaped into digital with a 'what's so hard' attitude - calibre hard to match! Thanks for tolerating the rest of us Bob and go easy on your maker!

We will never be the same without Bob around. His Technical meetings were not to be missed. No more pain. Rest in Peace. Bernie

Bob, You were a great bloke with one failing - you drank VB. You never did learn the error of your way.

Bob Shirely knew all that one needed to know about technology. While he appeared 'gruff' he knew what he was doing and was very helpful to someone like me who was non-technical. RIP Krishna

You were a great mate for over 40 years. Lots of memories both at work and away from Aunty. I hope there is a good talkback system where you are now, Arthur & Sue Trotter

RIP Bob You were not only a great work colleague and mentor, but a close personal friend for over twenty years we knew each other at the ABC. Great and fond memories. I'll miss you dearly. Brett Rugless (a.k.a. Swat)
